9 April 2016: Port Canaveral

Today i was on my own for the day for hubby on duty so after breakfast it was customs again and then i was on the taxi on my way to the mall.It was so early that when i got to the mall all the shops were still closed ,for they only open at 10h00 so first i walked through the place and not really much to see,a Thia massage shop did catch the eye and would love to bring hubby for a 30 min back and neck treatment.Then i started with my free wi fi business and could surf without watching the clock,which was great.Got a Skype call from Danielle which was great after no news for a week but connection was poor so was a hit and a miss conversation.Sad news am not going to see each other before i fly back home, she might still see  her father just before they do the Atlantic crossing to Europe from St Maarten.Only heard on the news that they sent some or other thing into space from Cape Canaveral on Friday and we were there, just did not know about it!!!Asked the taxi driver about the flat buildings and he said it is a small town and thats the only reason also laughed when i asked can you swim all over for lots of water around and he said yes but not were the snakes,bugs and alligators live ,would not recommend that!!So that was the end of another week at sea with new passengers for the next round.Here one week just flows into the next one and you talk of a sea day and a port day,days of the week do not exist in this industry .So until tomorrow ,bye

10 April 2016: Nassau

Today we made another visit to Nassau which we know quite well by now after all our visits to the place but our last one on this itinerary.After breakfast hubby and i decided to go walking and first we stopped at a place near the harbour where we just sat next to the water listening to our own house music!!! Regte matrose ons sit en le plek sommer op die hawe muur.Afrikaanse songs from home,what a special feeling to hear home music when you so far from home.Then we hit the streets and saw the most beautiful buildings  but some are in desperate need of a coat of paint and fixing,so sad for are really quite something.Victorian look and lovely wood work but think you would definitely fall through the floors.Took hubby to meet Captain Hook at the Graycliff Hotel but he not a very friendly guy,looks beneuk!!!Out came my ipad  again and after a one too many stops for a photo i got the message no more pics for the day,pappa has had enough!!The artist we bought my light house painting from was not in his usual spot today, so very thankful bought it with last visit otherwise would have missed him.So hubby is right if you see something you really like and can afford buy it for you never know if it will be there with next visit.

Only 3 ships in port today so was not very busy and not to hot which was nice.Made a quick stop at Duncan Donuts for our usual stop and order and could quickly post a few pics.Tomorrow we are at sea and Tuesday i am going on a St Thomas and Magen's Bay tour which i am really looking forward to.Heard a guy talking about St Thomas at an airport and he said that Magen's Bay was one of his favourite places to see,hope i feel the same,so we will see how my tour goes,until next time,bye

11 April 2016: @SEA

Wel wat n nag van ,die kant toe en ander kant toe! see omtrent omgekrap en so het dit heel nag gegaan tot na middag ete vandag, so eks bevrees vir die wat see siek raak moes dit n nagmerrie gewees het,orals op die skip sien jy sakkies vir naarword en hier en daar was daar n ongeluk want die blasers op die matte gerug vir droogmaak.Die ou skip kraak en steun laat my dink aan die museum besoek in Nassau waar jy hoor hoe dit gegaan het in daardie ou dae en dit moes 100 x erger gewees het.Dis nou 16h30 en ons is darem op baie rustiger water ,so lyk my onder uit die storm uitgeseil.So vir die gaste was dit geen le by die swembad vandag nie en al die ander plekke besig,dink die spar meisies het n besige dag so hulle smile.Verder hoop ek more is n mooi sonskyn dag want hierso gaan die excurtions voort soos hulle se rain or shine!Word net afgestel in uiterste omstandighede.Kom eers more 11h00 in St Thomas aan en ry dan weer 19h00 so darem heeldag vir rondloop en goed kyk.Ons toer het 2 ure by die strand in Magen’s Bay so gaan met my swembroek afklim en dan eindig dit by Blackbeard Museum en moet dan daarna glo 99 trappe afstap tot in die midde dorpwaar waar ek dan die taxi sal moet kry terug skip toe of voetslaan, sal maar kyk hoeveel tyd ek gaan he.Verder is ek maar baie luierig vandag en tot vamiddag n slapie ingekry.Hierdie see is wyd en hou vir ewig aan lyk asof hy geen einde het nie,weet nie wat is die ergste nie vlieg of n rowwe kwaai see!Nou ja tot volgende keer mooi loop.

12 April 2016:

We had another restless night with hubby been called out in the early hours of the morning and that was the end of his sleeping and ended up asking the captain to get the ship to port as soon as possible because of a medical emergency,thank goodness we made it and could get the guy to hospital for the necessary treatment.So watched the ambulance arriving and hubby doing his thing while i was watching from above.Amazing what always goes on behind the scenes and you have no idea! maybe a good thing.

Looked like a beautiful day but had a few angry clouds hanging around so think we in for some rain and sure enough just after we were dropped at Megans Bay for our 2 hour beach time the heavens opened and it started pouring with rain for about an hour,so my beach visit was not what i expected! but beautiful anyway.With 5 ships n port today there were lots and lots of people net waar jy kyk,beach was also packed.Then we were collected and on our way over the mountain the driver stopped for us to take photographs of the island which was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking.There was an old man with a dressed up donkey but he was not a very friendly guy and was only interested in people who wanted to pay for a pic with his donkey.Then we were dropped at Blackbeards Castle with the most amazing guide who could become a film star,he was excellent in his storytelling and actions,we just loved him en aan sy lippe gehang he looked the part of a pirate had 1 gold tooth and e few earrings in his ear, also all gold!!Real pirate look!Then it was time to climb up the Skytsborg Tower which was build in 1679 as a watchtower for the harbour with lots and lots of steps,a tiny spiral staircase all the way to the top with a view to die for.After that they took us to Villa Notman build out of native stone called blue bitch!! and yellow ballast brick which was carried as cargo staberlizers on the ships.

With your exit via a staircase you come upon a sculpture with 3 slaves called the three queens for these poor ladies were hanged for the slave revolt in 1878,darem vreeslik.

Then the 99 stairs are waiting!!! at least you going down hill and not up, Haagensen House is home built by a banker who had the house built with 9 bedrooms for his 9 children, but this area now houses the largest collection of life sized bronze pirates sculptures in the world,en so lekker om al hulle storeis te lees,wrede manne en vroue gewees,rof en wild.

Ons laaste stop was die hotel met n kombuis in die kroeg wat nog die oorspronklike stoof is en wat 185 jaar oud is ,daar kan jy  n drankie drink genoem Blackbeards Revenge,klink vir my gevaarlik en iet wat seker lelik byt.

Teen die tyd was dit al laat middag en hulle het ons gewaarsku dat eiland traffic hectic kan wees so moet genoeg tyd los om betyds by jou skip uit te kom en sorg vir regte adres want 5 skepe in hawens vandag.Besluit om vandag eerder die taxi weer terug te vat want toe begin dit weer reen en was nie lus vir nat reen nie.

Net voor ons vertrek uit die hawe het n cargo ship arriveer met n baie duur vrag skepe ,7 jagte en een groot jag op sy dek.Toe is dit weer tyd vir diep see toe en ons volgende bestemming Tortola.

13 April 2016: Tortola:

Gelukkig n mooi dag en lyk my vandag net sonskyn vir ons,waaroor ek baie bly is want stap in die reen nou nie eintlik baie lekker nie,ok as jy nat reen en kan terug skip toe maar so druipstert vir die dag nie lekker.Liefie werk so ek alleen die strate in,my ou storie kry n kaart van die plek en dan loop ek in elkgeval my eie draai en gaan waarheen my voete my vat of agter dit aan wat vir my mooi en intressant lyk.Die strate is vreelik nou en jy moet mooi luister ander bekruip die karre jou van agter en hulle toet dan skrik jy jou dood en plek vir vlug maar klein,meeste karre op die strate en hier en daar sypaadtjies.Het n oulike straat kafeetjie gekry met die mooiste goed en daarso n koffie gedrink en geswig voor n pragtige wyn bottel stopper. Het my verkyk aan al die mooi ou geboue en agterstrate ook maar vervalle,oud en vuil.Dis nou een ding wat ek glad nie kan vertaan nie hoekom hulle nie die plekke in stand hou en teminste skoon nie.Die groot huise is teen die hange van die eiland en strate op na bo baie styl en hoog,hulle lyk vir my groot maar dink n klomp mense bly ook in een huis seker hele familie saam.Op n mooi parkie afgekom met die mooiste herfskleure en ook verby n wilde woeste eiland man wou foto neem maar gesien nee los dit maar wens sulke tye ek het n gopro of wat jy ookal die goed noem, dat ek kan neem en hy weet nie eers nie.Teen die tyd was ek al opgestap en toe eerder by die hawe gaan sit waar ons gedok het ,in n aircon gebou en bietjie wi-fi.Moes lag na tydtjie kom vra die een werker in die plek ,sy wil net hoor is ek nie op die Escape nie want baie mense is al agtergelos as hulle tred verloor met die tyd en daar gaan jou skippie,gelukkig toe nie my skip nie!

Met sailaway die mooiste uitsig op die eiland gehad na n perfekte dag in Tortola.Volgende 2 dae op die diep see en dan Saterdag weer in Port Canaveral vir nuwe gaste.Tot volgende keer mooi loop.
