2 April 2016: Port Canaveral
Arrived early in Port Canaveral to collect our next fresh new passengers for the week.I had an early breakfast and then it was time to go through customs and hit the town but had to wait for hubby and that took two and a half hours of waiting with not a bench or chair in sight,so must admit was very glad when they were eventually cleared to get off.In the mean time i kept myself busy lying against a pole with first the one hip then the other one, then my back and like a stalk first the one leg then the other and watching the people come and go where it says, crew only.First the new crew arrived with there bus for there 9 months contracts and then the ones that were going home came out with huge smiles and happy faces what a feeling that must be,after months of very hard work, going home to family and friends.
Then we took a cab to the downtown mall with a return ticket just in case we got our wires crossed! What a funny flat and strange place this city is ,no high buildings in the area we were ,don't know if that also has to do with the space station that is close by,maybe. In the mall we walked around and then it was time for free-wifi,even if it was a bit slow,so could catch up.Next time would like to walk around in the mall and do some window shopping, the first visit to any place is just a checking everything out, surveillance operation and getting back in time for as i have said many times the ship does not wait for anyone!Think hubby always enjoys getting off when we can do things together.Getting back on board went smoothly and quickly for most new passengers were on board by the time we got back to the ship.We only have our supper meal together and always special for we have a view over the ocean with very few passengers around. So until next time by for now.
3 April 2016: Key West
Only picked up the pilot at 11h00 and arrived in port at 12h00.Sat in the lounge area right in front of the ship on deck 12 while we were sailing into Key West,so had a birds eye view on a lovely day.Heard an old man telling someone that this was his first visit back to Key West where he was in the navy in 1962 when he was 18 years old, amazing, memories. After the big rush i was out and on my way to Ernest Hemingtons House, last time i only peeped over the wall but decided this time i was going to go in and on a guided tour ,specially after reading a book that his 1st wife wrote of their life together in Paris.Beautiful old building that is a museum with most of the house just as it was when they lived in it.Found it amazing to think this famous writer lived here and this is where he wrote a lot of his work.Lots of stories, his second wife had a huge pool build in the garden while he was away kafoefeling with wife nr 3 and cost more than the house ,it stood empty for more than 40 years before they bought it.Payback time!!! she lived in the house until her death, and was a fashion editor and had very good and expensive taste!! She got what she wanted, the original roof chandeliers still hanging to this day.Lush tropical gardens with 53 cats on the property, decedents of his cats they say, some of the cats have 6 toes a genetic mishap and they rule the house even lie on his bed in the main bedroom. So loved this visit would have loved to have more time but we had to be back at 5 again. This is one place i would come to visit, just has a nice vibe and love the feeling. The huge homes are absolutely beautiful. On my way back i stopped to buy hubby some Key Lime Pie (lemon meringue ) for that was going to be his treat for the day for he was working and could not get off. When it was time to leave there were 3 missing passengers but 2 came running just before we left but the last person was left behind! for he was nowhere to be seen so he was in for a nasty surprise when he came looking for the ship,Ship Gone!!! Had a lovely day and tomorrow it is
another day at sea.
4 April 2016: @Sea
What a night, hubby had a sick patient with ? Pancreatitis so was up and down all night ,have forgotten what it feels like and hopefully will last until we get to land tomorrow morning, only with life and death situation plan B comes into action. Did my normal round at the gym and last night we turned the clocks back one hour so had more than enough time,no cheating!Got stuck in my seat on deck 12 with breakfast and there i stayed until nearly 12.The ship sailing at a snails pace so that not good when u are lazy and tired, fighting against sleep and the sea flat so nearly no movement.Well tomorrow we are in Georgetown Cayman Islands mooi loop.
